TEACHING - Lopon Rigzin Losal - 37 Practices of the Bodhisattva

October 1, 2022 - 9:30 am

The Thirty-seven Practices of a Bodhisattva: A Summary of the Heart Essence of a Bodhisattva’s Conduct.

The Ottawa Palyul Centre is delighted to host this teaching on Zoom by Lopon Rigzin Losal, one of Namdroling’s advanced English-speaking monastic teachers.  The text that Lopon will teach from, ‘The Thirty-seven Practices of a Bodhisattva’, was composed by Gyalsé (Bodhisattva) Tokmé Zangpo in the 14th century. It is a concise summary in 37 verses of the heart essence of a Bodhisattva’s conduct. In taking us through this text and the commentary called “Dispelling the Darkness of Mind”, Lopon Rigsel will help us to understand what it means to be a Bodhisattva and how we can follow in the footsteps of those who walk the path that joins primordial wisdom and loving compassion. We are sure that you will connect with Lopon Rigsel’s in-depth knowledge, his enthusiasm, and concern for students who often have little opportunity to communicate informally with an authentically trained Nyingma teacher.

All are welcome and can join anytime - no registration required.

Weekly Meditation Drop In - Wednesdays

You are warmly invited to “drop in”!  Drop in to the freshness of the present moment, to the warmth of your kind heart, and to the joy of the present.  Yes, it’s a present!  Regular meditation, even for brief periods, gives us an opportunity to receive this present.  Maybe you will attend for your physical or mental health, or maybe because you want to develop kindness toward yourself and others, or to join with a community of people who care deeply about waking up for the benefit of the world.  There are lots of motivations for meditation and, unfortunately, lots of distractions leading us to miss out on this valuable practice.  May this weekly meditation help you to minimize the distractions and enhance your motivation.   May the community we create when we meditate together give you support and encouragement.  Each week we’ll meditate together, starting out with guidance and gradually leading into a period of silent meditation.  Following the meditation, there will be a short period during which comments and questions will be heartily welcomed.
