9:30 am: TEACHING - Lopon Rigzin Losal - 37 Practices of the BodhisattvaTEACHING - Lopon Rigzin Losal - 37 Practices of the BodhisattvaMarch 4, 2023 - 9:30 am The Thirty-seven Practices of a Bodhisattva: A Summary of the Heart Essence of a Bodhisattva’s Conduct. The Ottawa Palyul Centre is delighted to host this teaching on Zoom by Lopon Rigzin Losal, one of Namdroling’s advanced English-speaking monastic teachers. The text that Lopon will teach from, ‘The Thirty-seven Practices of a Bodhisattva’, was composed by Gyalsé (Bodhisattva) Tokmé Zangpo in the 14th century. It is a concise summary in 37 verses of the heart essence of a Bodhisattva’s conduct. In taking us through this text and the commentary called “Dispelling the Darkness of Mind”, Lopon Rigsel will help us to understand what it means to be a Bodhisattva and how we can follow in the footsteps of those who walk the path that joins primordial wisdom and loving compassion. We are sure that you will connect with Lopon Rigsel’s in-depth knowledge, his enthusiasm, and concern for students who often have little opportunity to communicate informally with an authentically trained Nyingma teacher. All are welcome and can join anytime - no registration required. Happy Chotrul Duchen -the ‘Day of Miracles’Happy Chotrul Duchen -the ‘Day of Miracles’March 7, 2023 - Happy Chotrul Duchen! Celebrated on the full moon (the fifteenth day) of the first Tibetan lunar month, Chotrul Duchen (the ‘Day of Miracles’) is the first of four major prayer festivals in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar commemorating great events in the Buddha's life. The lunar month goes from new moon to new moon and the entire first month of the Tibetan calendar is called Bum Gyur Dawa (100,000 month). In this month it is considered that the results of all actions both positive and negative are multiplied a hundred thousand times. The first 15 days of the New Year commemorates the miracles that the Buddha performed to instill faith and devotion in the Dharma. Chotrul Duchen marks the end of the first 15 days and it is the first “Düchen” or “great occasion” in the Tibetan calendar, marking the beginning of the New Year. Since actions are multiplied 100,000 times, it is considered very beneficial to engage in positive activities throughout the month and especially on this day! Please below for Centres that you can follow for Chotrul Duchen practice.
