In this time when our lives can feel speedy and stressful, our hearts breaking with every news cycle, and our minds out of control, we may feel the need an Operator’s Manual for the Human Heart/Mind. Fortunately, such a manual has been around since the 13th century and it still works for the problems of the 21st Century! It’s called, Lojong, and it is organized around 59 pithy sayings. Each one is a support for realizing the vast potential of the human heart/mind. Please join us weekly (or occasionally) on Wednesday for a period of guided meditation and contemplation and an introduction to one of the sayings. Before concluding, we always have time for comments and questions.

We hope that your practices are flourishing, especially in this 4th lunar month when our positive karma is multiplied 100,000 fold. Sagadawa, the 4th lunar month is one of the most auspicious and important months in the Tibetan lunar calendar year. Saga Dawa 2024 runs from May 9th – June 6th, 2024. Saga Dawa is also known as the month of merits; called Bumgyur Dawa (100,000 month). During this period it is considered that the karmic results of all actions both positive and negative are multiplied by 100,000. This, then, is a great time to make extra efforts in practicing Dharma, generosity, and compassion to accumulate greater virtue and purify our negative karma. Please pray for the long life of all holy Gurus, for the survival and spreading of Buddha’s teachings in the minds of all sentient beings, and peace on earth. May all beings benefit!
The 15th day of this lunar month, the full moon day, is called Saga Dawa Düchen (Düchen means “great occasion”). It commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of our perfect and supreme teacher, Buddha Shakyamuni. In 2024, Saga Dawa Düchen falls on Thursday May 23rd. On this day, it is said that the results of our positive and negative actions are multiplied 10 million times - a good day for practice!
For ritual practice days, we encourage our sangha to join those Palyul Centres whose practices are led on Zoom by a resident Lama.
