Welcome to the Ottawa Palyul Centre!

We are a registered Canadian charity with two mandates: to uphold and nurture the Buddha Dharma in Canada and to support the refugee children living at Namdroling Monastery in Byla Kuppe, South India. The Ottawa Palyul Centre welcomes diversity in all its forms and offers you a safe space in which to practice and discuss the Dharma.

JANUARY 2022 Monthly Programs & News

  • On January 1st, 2022, our Yangsi, His Holiness Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche Migyur Dechen Garwang Zilnon Dorje, celebrates his 10th Birthday.  Since we are still not able to practice at the Centre, we hope that you will remember all his accomplishments and deeds in his previous life by lighting a candle in his honour. May the Palyul practices and his work continue to benefit all beings for infinite time!  We are also very pleased to let you know that our New York Palyul Centre will have a variety of in-person special activities to commemorate his birth, and they have been kind enough to transmit on Zoom the Tsok & Lama Dance on Saturday January 8th between 1- 3pm. Our dear Khenchen Guru will be present for all these celebrations.  Zoom – NYC Yangsi Zoom Link Meeting ID: 827 1526 3353 Passcode: Guru

  • NEW – Sunday Dharma Meditation & Discussion Sessions – Sunday Jan 16th & 30th from 2 to 3:30pm “Exploring the Basic Space of Awareness.” We invite you to join us for a series of guided meditations and dharma discussions led by Angela Sumegi on Zoom.

Inhouse practices at the Centre  – We were all set to open up the Centre for our 10th and 25th Tsok practices and Sunday meditation sessions, but unfortunately, due to the latest Co-vid updates, we will have to postpone any in-house practices until further notice.

2021 Activities –  We are happy to report that we launched a more user friendly website that allowed for easier event registrations & donations.  We also established all our Centre Dharma activity on Zoom, and hosted 3 wonderful teachings by Khenchen Guru both in person and on Zoom.

2022 Activities – Along with our regular program, we hope to support the broader Ottawa community in their meditation and spiritual interests by providing on-going meditation and Dharma discussion sessions.

Thank you for your generosity – With your donations, we are happy to report that we have been able to keep our little Centre open and viable, and we were able to send an amount of $4000 in 2020 and looking at the possibility of sending up to $5000 in 2021 for the support of the children in Namdroling monastery.
